Feng Shui Basics - How To Calculate Your KUA Number And Know Your Auspicious Directions

One of the most effective way to commence in the practice of learning feng shui yourself is to find out the four corners of your living that are most auspicious for you. Basically speaking, these are the luckiest and most fortunate spots in any room, office or apartment for you. If you sit, sleep or work in any of these four specific locations, it will bring you good luck and good fortune, and even protect you from bad luck. The formula used for identifying these lucky locations is a special formula called the KUA Number Calculation. You have to calculate your KUA number before you can know your most auspicious corners. So, lets try to learn how to calculate your KUA number.....

First and foremost, you will have to know what is your lunar calendar year of birth. Remember, it is not your western calendar year of birth, but your chinese lunar calendar year of birth. If you are borned before the lunar New Year each year, you must deduct 1 from your year of birth (you need the date of birth to determine this since generally, this affects those born before February but it is useful to check a Lunar calendar to be exact).

On the other hand, if you are borned after the lunar New Year, then you need NOT deduct 1 from your year of birth, i.e your year of birth remains as it is.

Once you know your lunar calendar year of birth, you will need to add the last two digits. Simply keep adding the digits until you get a single digit number. For instance, if your year of birth is 1969, then just add the last 2 digits which is 6+9=15. Next, you add 1+5=6 to get a single digit number. Then:

For Men, deduct this number from 10. The result is your KUA number.

For Women, add this number to 5. The result is your KUA number.

If you get two digits keep adding until you reduce it to one digit eg. if you get the number 10 then 1+0=1; and if you get the number 14 then 1+4=5.

Once you know your personal KUA number, you can find out your auspicious locations. Refer to the table below to learn about your auspicious corners & locations:

Note that West Group CORNERS are inauspicious for East group people & vice versa.

Calculation of your KUA Number in Feng Shui is based on personal birth dates, and the compass points that indicate auspicious locations also indicate the best directions. To determine the best directions for your sitting, sleeping and working positions, you must also know what your personal best directions are.

Simply refer to the table below and memorize the directions that are auspicious for you. Once you know your four auspicious directions, you can then try your best to always sit or position yourself to directly facing your most auspicious direction. However, in instances where this is physically not possible, you should then try to use at least one of your other three good directions. Although the other 3 directions may not be your best direction, it is definitely better to sit facing an acceptable direction than to sit facing an inauspicious direction that will spells total loss for you! Majority of the people who practise this compass feng shui by knowing their 4 most auspicious directions benefit greatly from good health, abundant wealth and romantic love and so do I.

Based on individual KUA numbers, the Formula describe the specific types of good and bad luck of all the eight directions of the compass. Refer to the table below for easy reference:

Now that you've realized your most auspicious directions, you can really try to arrange your furnitures accordingly to these best directions. Sitting, sleeping or working at your auspicious directions are the best way to improve your life and give a boost to your good luck!

However, you also have to take note of your inauspicious directions and the only way to overcome these inauspicious directions is to use Feng Shui tools and items to suppress them. Besides using Feng Shui items, the most important thing is that you need to make special arrangements of the furniture in your home and make sure that they do not  be placed in a position that will offend these inauspicious directions.
